I’m Janice and I. Love. NOSTALGIA! I love the fashion, the traditions, old movies, and the music of bygone days. And it’s just not because I’m in my mid-life era. I’ve been an old soul all my life. Growing up in Metro Detroit, I loved watching old movies with my mom on WKBD’s Bill Kennedy at the Movies. I love to scour YouTube for old movies, old cartoons and retro TV commercials. I can sing every TV theme show from my childhood and I have countless pop culture references, obscure tidbits and weird trivia that I’m SUPER excited to share with YOU!  🙂 

 In 1986, I graduated with a degree in journalism and after college I worked as a journalist in both local TV News and for several local newspapers before moving into Corporate Communications and Public Relations. After marrying and having my only daughter shortly before I turned 42, I traded in the corporate ladder for full-time motherhood and the occasional freelance writing assignments and never looked back. 

Earlier this year, after 15 years in Chattanooga, TN., my husband, John and I bid farewell to our home, our friends and our precious daughter, Marly, a junior at University of Tennessee Chattanooga, and moved to the Sunshine State for his new job, following a forced corporate layoff/buyout. Starting over in a new state at our age (and without kids to help us find new friends) is intimidating but I have realized a renewed sense of myself down here. Seeing seniors many years older than me in Lulu leggings jogging the beach, carrying pickleball rackets and whooping it up with friends at Happy Hour gives me so much hope for my own golden years! I’ve been fearful of the senior years but I’m seeing that age truly is only a number and your attitude about aging is everything! There’s still plenty of exciting life left on this side of 60!! So come along with me as I share the memories Gen Jonesers will appreciate. We’ll talk middle age, menopause, trying to age gracefully, empty nesting, adult children and other bits of  acquired wisdom from life in the trenches. All served up with a side of humor and sass. Because, my fellow Jonesers, we’re not getting older, we’re growing bolder!!  🙂 Come Jones with me!
